Unblock your Qi with sound and the sea. - Friday 9th May Day Retreat with Doctor Seaweed and Deidre Bounds at Acorn Wellness.
Ancient healing systems see spring as an important time to address the health of the mind, body and spirit. In Chinese medicine the season of spring focuses on the wood element, wood energy is about movement, new growth and creativity.
So, let’s explore the wood element at the perfectly named and stunning space that is Acorn Wellness, nestled in the beautiful countryside near Brimham Rocks, North Yorkshire.
We begin our day with a warm welcome, herbal teas and power ball, then gather if the weather allows us surrounded by nature on the beautiful terrace or in the stunning lotus studio to begin our Qigong practice with Deirdre.
QiGong is a 3000 year old Chinese practice that involves coordinated movement, breathing and meditation. A hypnotic practice that will leave you feeling balanced and at peace.
Following QiGong we connect once again to ancient chinese tradition and discuss all things seaweed!! Seaweed has been used for 1000’s of years most notably in Asian Cuisine, predominantly in Japan and China. We will be joined by Doctor Seaweed himself Dr Craig Rose marine biologist to discuss the health benefits of including seaweed in our diets, a relaxed environment to chat and ask questions about this superfood. Is Seaweed the answer to health and longevity?
Sarah Wheelhouse will lovingly prepare our nutritious seasonal plant based lunch that will be enjoyed together in the gorgeous dining area, giving time us time to reflect and discuss the morning.
The afternoon is about relaxation and just “being” in this beautiful space. Each guest will experience a 30 minute therapy of your choice, choose from body massage, Indian head massage or reflexology, then take time to sip hot teas, read a book in the quiet area, or nurture yourself in the heat facilities of the wellness bud with a sauna and steam, towel and robe provided.
We will end the day with another ancient therapy, sound. It has been used for 1000’s of years to calm the mind and nervous system. We will settle onto our mats, get cosy, and prepare to open our hearts and mind to the soothing sounds of moon gong, Himalayan bowls and Koshi chymes.
A beautiful day honouring the ancient Chinese art of healing through movement, nourishment and sound.
